The Ponoka Stampede 2024 WPCA Tarp Sale is being held at the Stagecoach Saloon on the Stampede Grounds on May 3.
The reception starts at 5 and the live auction will get underway starting at 6:30 p.m.
At the annual live tarp auction, bidders vie for advertising space on the wagons of the top 36 chuckwagon drivers in the world.
The drivers compete for six straight nights at the Ponoka Stampede’s 5/8 mile track, all for the chance to win $75,000 in the WPCA Tommy Dorchester Dash for Cash finale.
Miss Ponoka Stampede 2024, Olivia MacLennan, will be also be officially crowned during the event.

The 2023 Ponoka Stampede tarp auction on May 5, was a record-breaking success with a combined sale total of $553,000 — up $163,250 over the 2022 total of $389,750.
Evan Magee’s tarp was the 2023 top seller, going for $29,500. Wade Salmond came in second at $27,000.
The average bid was $15,361.11, with the low bid coming in at $6,000.
