VIDEO: Gord Bamford lights up the Stampede mainstage on opening night

Country singer Gord Bamford was the first artist to hit the mainstage at this year's Ponoka Stampede

Country singer Gord Bamford was the first artist to hit the mainstage at this year's Ponoka Stampede on Tuesday, June 25.

Bamford performed from his collection of hits to an enthusiastic crowd - the ideal wrap up to a day packed with non-stop rodeo action.

Bamford said the plan was to shoot a music video during the evening as well.

Brayden King performed in the Showdown Dance Hall later that evening as well.

Meanwhile, there are plenty more top singers to enjoy through the week, including Meghan Patrick on June 27. Randall King on June 28, Craig Moritz on June 29, and Jade Eagleson on June 30.
